Diamond Technologies Brings a Dream to Reality for the National Constitution Center
The Client
Philadelphia's Independence Mall is home to The National Constitution Center (NCC) which houses several of the United States' renowned national treasures. Showcasing our country's heritage through prominent documents such as rare printings of the U.S. Constitution and Emancipation Proclamation requires the utilization of state of the art technologies. The center welcomes over one million visitors annually and communication is a key component in running a smooth operation.
The Business Need
Three years ago, the Director of Information Technology for the NCC embarked on an initiative to create a cost effective intranet site that would manage and share a broad range of information across the organization as well as streamline the internal communication process. In August of 2007, he commissioned Diamond Technologies with the task of bringing this initiative to fruition.
The Solution
Through their Microsoft SharePoint expertise, Diamond Technologies designed and implemented an employee portal built on a SharePoint 2007 platform. This cutting edge solution enables the NCC staff to communicate more effectively through a new employee intranet management system. The system serves as a central repository for data, documents, and discussions forums and includes role-based secure access. Uncomplicated access to HR documents, policy and procedures manuals, and blog capabilities now provide the staff with an easy to manage information sharing vehicle. The SharePoint Portal was designed to meet the National Constitution Center's objective to provide their staff with a centralized, one-stop-shop location for all of their intra-company informational needs.
Business Impact
This new user friendly management utility has exceeded the expectations of the center. Employee ideas and requests are coming in by the droves. Next on the horizon for the NCC is an external version of the site. "Diamond helped us implement an idea we have had for years, but were never able to do on our own. Our new company Intranet site has exploded since we kicked it off!!! We're sharing information in ways we never have before. Productivity is up, administrative overhead is down - it's a win all the way around." Director of Information Technology, The National Constitution Center
