Recommended Curriculum

“I have been very pleased with the working relationship Diamond Technologies has forged with the Delaware Department of Education and with our Curriculum Development Workgroup. The Diamond team helped display curriculum material in a web format that is at once sophisticated and easy to navigate. Their attention to detail and willingness to shape the website to meet our needs, and with an eye toward its eventual utility with educators in Delaware and across the nation. They have been especially creative in helping us design a password-protected juried unit review process that features interactivity between designer and reviewers.”

Department of Education

A Multi-faceted Web Tool for the Delaware Department of Education

The Client

The Department of Education (DOE) is the state agency with the mission to promote the highest quality education for every Delaware student by providing visionary leadership and superior services. The DOE offers services for Adult Education and Work Force Development, Assessment and Accountability, Curriculum and Instructional Improvement, Finance and Administrative Services, and scholarships through the Delaware Higher Education Commission.

The Business Need

The DOE required an update to its academic content standards and a defined Kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum map in all content areas that included grade-level specific expectations and benchmarks. A comprehensive web-based tool was needed to create their Delaware Recommended Curriculum (DRC) system.

The Solution

The launching of the new DRC website provided the Delaware Educational Community with a long awaited curriculum tool. Diamond was instrumental in building the technical interface utilized to bring the project to fruition. The system will provide parents, students, teachers, and content users with a tool to use in various elements of the Delaware Recommended Curriculum at the local level. The project incorporated five functional components, including an internet website, content administrative tool, content workflow and peer review, reporting and user account, and security management.

Business Impact

With the new website, teachers are provided a virtual guide to use towards their instruction in grades K -12. This provides synergy between Delaware's state standards and classroom instruction.
