The Department of Natural Resources
Maximizing Productivity With SharePoint 2007
The Client
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources (DNREC) is responsible for the management and conservation of the natural resources for the State of Delaware.
The Business Need
After an internal migration attempt resulted in the significant loss of data, DNREC chose Diamond Technologies to facilitate their SharePoint 2003 to 2007 conversion. With over 40,000 web pages encompassing five external websites - content management is a key component for state administrators. DNREC needed to streamline their web content management process and eliminate detailed programming.
The Solution
The new CMS solution involved two key components: content management and code management. Diamond Technologies leveraged the power of .NET by utilizing their SharePoint expertise to migrate CMS 2002 content to a new SharePoint Server site. This migration included upgrading pages from ASP/ASP 1.1 to ASP.NET 2.0, modifying namespaces and content API references in ASPX files to use MOSS specifications, and re-engineering current pages to .NET 2.0 code specifications. New web pages were also created to meet requirements.
Business Impact
This website enhancement is a huge win for the Department of Natural Resources. The solution streamlined their content management process, decreased workloads, and increased automation and control over production. It also offered a program that the state administrators could manage in a user-friendly environment while providing room for growth.
