“The impact of this system is tremendous. It effects the entire City of Wilmington. The citizens, Fire Department, taxes, utilities, licenses and inspections. We're pleased with the work Diamond has done for us. It's been several years in the making, but well worth it!”

The Client

Wilmington is the largest city in the State of Delaware and is one of the major cities in the Delaware Valley metropolitan area. The City of Wilmington strives to offer the residents of their neighborhoods "A Place To Be Somebody". Under the leadership of Mayor James Baker, the City of Wilmington continually seeks out opportunities to foster economic growth while simultaneously providing innovation through their initiatives.

The Business Need

In an effort to improve city services and effiencies, the City of Wilmington elected to migrate their existing internal network system to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system called MUNIS (MUNIcipal information System). Diamond Technolgies was selected to provide project management and systems integration services for the county-wide MUNIS implementation.

The Solution

Built on a Microsoft Platform, the 13-module MUNIS system provides the City of Wilmington with a streamlined process for their financial applications, payroll, cashiering, property and real estate taxes, utility billing, licenses and inspections permits as well as business licensing. MUNIS serves as a multi-faceted program for the City that provides an effective and proactive structure for accomplishing city-wide objectives. Diamond Technologies provided comprehensive project management services for MUNIS implementation, including oversight of the entire solution, project management for individual MUNIS functional modules and services for the integration of MUNIS to other City technologies.

Business Impact

Through the leadership of IT Director Jim O'Donnell, the final modules of the MUNIS project have been brought to fruition. "The impact of this system is tremendous"; shared Jim, "It's been several years in the making, but well worth it".
