Credit Life Administration System Leverages Functionality

The Client

Our client is a division of the world's leading international insurance and financial services organization, with operations in more than 130 countries and jurisdictions. Our client's member companies serve commercial, institutional and individual customers through the most extensive worldwide property-casualty and life insurance networks of any insurer.

The Business Need

As is common with many large organizations, our client was seeking to standardize its information systems platforms. Its Credit Life Administration Software ("CLAS") was a system that had evolved over a period of many years into a complex, yet business critical system used in several European markets. Having been developed on the PC platform using legacy (Visual dBASE) technology, our client was seeking to migrate this system to current technology that could be scaled to become the standard administration system for all of Europe. In addition, our client was seeking to significantly enhance the functionality of the system.

The Solution

Diamond Technologies' solution to this challenge was to re-engineer the CLAS system to a fully integrated, Internet-enabled solution based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) architecture. The proposed solution is developed to run efficiently on our client's preferred technical platform, including IBM's WebSphere Java Application Server, Microsoft's SQL Server relational database, Crystal Reports, and related technologies.

Business Impact

Diamond Technologies' approach was to provide our client with a rich, state-of-the-art solution that leverages the functionality of the off-the-shelf software products and provides highly efficient custom software code, while remaining easy to support and maintain over the long run. The system is architected to become the standard credit life administration system for all of our client's European operations. As such, the system was designed with extensive multi-language and site customization capabilities.
